Nestled into a hillside, this home
takes full advantage of a rather challenging site. Because the front
of the house faces south towards the street, a courtyard terrace was
formed in the sloped front yard and ringed with a landscape berm to
create a sunny and semi-private outdoor area.
-
The home was designed for phased growth
and flexible use. The formal areas of the house are separated via
French doors from the informal living areas; saving energy through
separate heat/cooling zones, and creating smaller, more intimate areas
for the family when the formal rooms are not in use.
-
The unique rooflines create an interesting
look on the outside and translate to interesting spaces on the inside.
-
One of the feature elements of the
interior is the granite fireplace. Not only does a fireplace make
a house feel cozy and warm, it also can be the focal point of a room
and an important design element.
-
This courtyard is accessed from the
kitchen eating area and front porch. A more private patio and an area
for a garden and screened porch with roof deck above situated to the
rear of the home off the family and dining rooms.
-
The open floor plan invites light,
air, flexibility, and style into the home.

A second floor space above the garage
and a walkâup attic were left unfinished in the original phase, providing
area for added living space and bedrooms when needed. Three bedrooms
were completed in the initial phase and the total available living
area is approximately 3,600 square feet. Subsequently, the garage
space has been finished as additional bedroom and office space with
a media room created in the basement, easily accessed from the family
room above. The finished area in the house is now approximately 4,500
SF porch.
